Board the Hadeel in Esna, south of Luxor, and meet the crew. Take a guided walk through Esna's markets before setting sail in the afternoon, mooring for the night at a quiet spot along the river.
Overview
A 5-day, 4-night dahabiya sail between Luxor and Aswan aboard the Hadeel.
The Hadeel is a dahabiya — a traditional, wind-assisted sailing boat carrying only a handful of cabins — sailing a quieter stretch of the Nile between Luxor and Aswan over a 4-night itinerary. Compared to a standard cruise ship, the pace is slower and the mooring spots quieter, with the same major temples visited along the way.
Itinerary
Day-by-day plan.
Sail toward El Kab, once the capital of Upper Egypt, and visit its cliffside tombs. Spend the afternoon on deck as the boat sails gently downstream, with a stop for swimming where the current allows.
Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu and continue sailing to Kom Ombo, mooring near its double temple dedicated to Sobek and Horus the Elder. Enjoy dinner on deck under open sky, away from the larger cruise ships.
A relaxed day of sailing toward Aswan, with time on deck to watch the riverbanks pass. Moor for the night near the city ahead of disembarkation.
After breakfast, visit Philae Temple by boat before disembarking in Aswan, marking the end of the journey.
